Preparations continue for the 2nds and 3rds

Preparations continue for the 2nds and 3rds with a series of games over recent weeks. A good performance last week saw them come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against a good Ballynagross  2nd side while on Saturday Castleabbey 2nds were the visitors in an entertaining game which the home side won by 4-2 with Jordan Hayes, Ross Bingham and Aaron McCaffrey [2] on the score sheet.

A further 2 friendly matches are to be played this week at The Millbridge on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th August. Kick off for both games will be 6.30pm so all players should meet at the club for 5.45pm.

Club memberships are now due and should be paid to the Club Treasurer as soon as possible.

Colin Murray resigns as first team manager

The unexpected resignation of United manager Colin Murray came as a great shock to players, supporters and committee alike. Everyone at the club would like to express their sincere thanks to Colin for all the hard work and enthusiasm he gave to the role over his years at the helm. There were many highlights along the way but undoubtedly steering the team to the 5th Round of the Irish Cup and an unforgettable day out at Coleraine last year was one of the most memorable.

Colin however, and much to the delight of everyone, will remain at the club and will join the committee and work behind the scenes to take the club forward.

The club Committee are currently considering its options in respect of the appointment of a new manager and it hopes to have the matter resolved soon. It is very grateful to Keith Hamilton, Davy Teggarty and a number of the senior players for stepping into the breach and doing an excellent job.

BEC Electrical Ltd renew their shirt sponsorship for the 1st team

The club would like to express its appreciation to BEC Electrical Ltd of Ballynahinch for their sponsorship of a new first team kit. Due to a clash of colours on Saturday United were unable to wear it however it is expected to make its debut tomorrow night (Tuesday 13th August) for the home league fixture against Sirocco Works.

The costs of running any sporting club is becoming an increasing burden on its members and Ballynahinch United like many other is feeling the pinch. Despite the income from members, supporters and players it can be difficult to cover the outlay required for a typical home match which with referees fees and the costs associated with kit wash etc. can amount to £100.The club would welcome MatchSponsorship or sponsorship to assist with the defraying of costs. Anyone interested in providing assistant should contact any club member or telephone the Secretary 07436112954 for further information.

2nds & 3rds Management positions filled

United have moved to fill the vacancy of 2nd team manager with club stalwart Davy Teggarty moving up to take on the role. In addition the club has decided to move its second team from the NAFL to the Newcastle & District League Division 2.

Ian Blackwood has also been appointed to take on the role of 3rd team manager. Neither of the 2nds or 3rds start their league campaigns until early September and the club is on the lookout for additional players. Anyone interested should come along to the club on either Tuesday or Thursday night training or make yourself known to either of the managers or any of the club officials.
