Ballynahinch hosted last week’s foes looking to make up for the dropped points away.
United controlled the game throughout the first half with Andrew Shannon showing his quality, but created very little that threatened the ‘Walter boys.
Come half an hour, Lee Maxwell added to his season tally to give United the lead with his 10th league goal of the campaign.
United remained determined and battled through to the end of the half with Stefan’s sheet remaining clean.
In the second half, Chris Coleman powered home a header from a well worked set-piece, straight from the training ground.
Two-nil is a dangerous scoreline, and it proved to be as Ballywalter battled back to draw level with two goals in quick succession with 10 to go.
Manager Kyle Rendall had already made the necessary changes to mount a comeback including Gavin Crawford who returned from injury since November.
But it was substitute Glenn ‘The Header’ Bennett who added the decisive touch with the winner 4 minutes from time.
Ballywalter’s nasty streak and frustration shone through when they were reduced to ten men in injury time for Ballynahinch United to pick up an important three points, and send Rec home with nothing.
