Everyone at Ballynahinch United, Youth & Ladies are delighted to welcome Ally Brown, Ben Wilson and Kerri Gonzalez as our new team of Club Chaplains.
The Chaplains will be available to players, coaches, supporters and indeed anyone connected with the Club who is in need of pastoral or spiritual care and support. Their role will be to provide a supportive, non-judgemental, listening ear, supporting individuals through life’s ever-changing events and challenges. They will be present at either training sessions or matches on a regular basis and are looking forward to getting to know the players, coaches and families over the coming months.
Sports chaplaincy is now well established across Irish football and has received the backing of many illustrious names, including Sir Alex Ferguson, who said that “Chaplains can be of help to all sorts of people involved with sport, when crisis, need or difficulty comes. I commend the idea of sports chaplaincy and the work of Sports Chaplaincy UK to you.”
The appointment of these Chaplains has been down to the support of Sports Chaplaincy Ireland, which is co-ordinated by ex-Irish League star Philip Mitchell who had this to say about our Club:
“This is a great club who have had a heart for player and coach wellbeing for many years. The appointment of this team of chaplains across the club builds on that work and adds a most valuable additional layer of support. Well done Ballynahinch United FC!”
